RETURN OF THE MATT

-

v7.45pm QPR manager Steve McClaren admits he has changed his mind about Matt Smith.

The 6ft 6in striker has been the fourth-choice forward for much of the campaign behind Nahki Wells, Tomer Hemed and Ebere Eze.

But he has now scored three times in the last two games after getting a starting chance.

McClaren said ahead of tonight’s visit to Bristol City: “It’s been a great week for Matt. He was out in the cold and had to wait for his opportunity.

“But he’s worked hard and has been effective.”
