DERRY City football captain Ryan McBride’s funeral took place just hours before that of Martin McGuinness.
Irish president Michael D Higgins joined hundreds of mourners who attended his requiem mass at the same church in the city.
The 27-year-old defender was found dead at his home on Sunday. The cause of death is unknown.
Manager Kenny Shiels said he was a “Trojan warrior” who wore the club’s jersey with great pride.
