Ellie to four on the floor

ELLIE DOWNIE sealed her fourth and final medal of the European Gymnastics Championships by claiming silver in the women’s floor apparatus final in Romania.

The 17-year-old from Nottingham was narrowly pipped to gold by Angelina Melnikova of Russia, with Eythora Thorsdottir of Holland taking bronze.

Downie was crowned all-around champion on Friday. She said: “I’ve always known I’m a good gymnast but I didn’t come here expecting to walk out with a gold, two silvers and a bronze. It blows my mind.”
