Family urge Benidorm tourists to come forward in bid to solve fatal plunge case

THE father of a Scots holidaymaker who fell to her death in Benidorm yesterday begged other tourists to come forward with information.

Kirsty Maxwell plunged from a 10th floor balcony of the Apartamentos Payma in the Little England area while on a hen weekend.

It’s unclear how the 27-year-old, of Livingston, ended up in the room where five British men were staying.

They are under formal investigation and are expected to return to Spain for questioning next month.

In the meantime, Kirsty’s family are using Facebook and Twitter in a bid to find new witnesses – especially those who were staying in a holiday complex across the road.

Her dad Brian Curry said: “To assist us in getting to the truth about what happened to Kirsty, we are keen to trace people who were staying in Hotel Presidente in Benidorm on the weekend of April 28 and 29.”

Former detective David Swindle, who uncovered the chilling crimes of serial killer Peter Tobin, is working with the family and a Spanish lawyer.

Swindle said: “Hotel Presidente looks directly on to the apartments where Kirsty died.

“We have established that a lot of the residents were elderly. Some of them may not be au fait with social media and may not be aware of the family’s appeal.”

The investigator has set up a secure email where information can be provided anonymously.

Flyers have also been sent to the Apartamentos Payma, also known as My Pretty Payma, for distribution to guests who were staying in the block at the time of Kirsty’s death.

Posters have been put on display throughout the popular resort.

Until recently, only one of the British tourists who was in the room at the time, Joseph Graham, 32, was under investigation.

But judge Ana GarciaGalbis has now extended the probe to cover his friends, Ricky Gammon, 31, Anthony Holehouse, 34, Callum Northridge, 27, and Daniel Bailey, 32.

Kirsty’s husband Adam welcomed the development.

He has dismissed suggestions she may have been sleepwalking, as she had not done it in the nine years they’d been together.

Adam said: “All we want is to find out the truth.

“I’ve lost my best friend. I miss her every moment of every day.” ● For more information about the appeal, see www. facebook.com/KirstyMaxwell-InformationAppeal-255653638249126/ or follow @kirstydeathhelp on Twitter.
