Jetlag chemo drug hope

A DRUG used to ease jetlag could be used to prevent the painful side effects of cancer medicines, experts believe.

Melatonin given before treatment appeared to prevent chemotherapyinduced neuropathic pain, which causes tingling and pain to touch and at cold temperatures.

However, in tests on rats, scientists at Edinburgh and Aberdeen universities also found it did not alleviate pain when CINP had already developed.
