Sci-fi classic re­turns for 40th an­niver­sary

THE Hitch­hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is mak­ing a ra­dio come­back with the orig­i­nal cast to mark the 40th an­niver­sary of the cult classic’s first pi­lot show.

The sixth in­stal­ment of Dou­glas Adams’ sci-fi story, called The Hitch­hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Hexag­o­nal Phase, will fea­ture in a six-episode se­ries on Ra­dio 4.

Si­mon Jones, who plays dress­ing gown-clad time trav­eller Arthur Dent says it prom­ises to be the “most epic ad­ven­ture yet”.

He added: “It seems ex­tra­or­di­nary that it’s been 40 years since the first pi­lot episode for BBC ra­dio.

“I never ex­pected to still be search­ing for some kind of an­swer to life, the uni­verse and ev­ery­thing al­most a life­time later.”

The se­ries will in­clude un­pub­lished ma­te­rial from Adams, who died in 2001.
