CELTIC outcast Liam Henderson is a step closer to a shock move to Italy after impressing in a trial match with Bari.

The ex-Hibs midfielder isn’t part of Brendan Rodgers’s plans this season and has made a single appearance, coming on as a sub in the 1-0 win over Dundee in October.

Henderson, who also had a loan spell at Rosenborg in Norway, jetted to Italy to try to win a deal with the Serie B side and played for the first team in a 4-0 win against the reserves.

The 21-year-old, out of contract this summer, must persuade former Juventus, Inter Milan and Italy World Cup winner Fabio Grosso, who is now Bari boss, he is worthy of a contract. DUNDEE boss Neil McCann has secured defender Jon Aurtenetxe until the end of the season.

The former La Liga star – who made more than 100 appearances for Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo – penned a contract extension last night after being snapped up by the Dens side in the summer.

Aurtenetxe, 26, had to wait until November to make his debut but has nailed down the left-back role as McCann’s men climbed the table with victories against Rangers, St Johnstone and Partick Thistle.

Meanwhile, out of favour James Vincent and Kostadin Gadzhalov are targets for Championship promotion hopefuls Dunfermline. AIRDRIE boss Stevie Findlay believes Dale Carrick will provide his Diamonds with much-needed cutting edge.

The striker has signed an 18-month deal after swapping Livingston for the League One side and goes straight into today’s squad to face Stranraer.

Findlay hopes the former Hearts kid will form a lethal attacking partnership with fellow new boy Darryl Duffy.

He said: “Dale’s a fantastic acquisition alongside Darryl and they’ll both help the young strikers with their development too.

“Dale has great instincts in the box, he’s quick, he works hard for the team and at only 24 our fans will get to see the best of him.” AYR have completed the loan signing of Wolves keeper Jack Ruddy, 22, until the end of the season.

Record Sport revealed yesterday the Scot would be joining Ian McCall’s men on a short-term deal. STRIKER Ouzy See, 23, has joined Berwick for an undisclosed fee after a short spell with Forfar. STRANRAER have snapped up Ross County kid Dylan Dykes, 21, on a development loan until the summer.
