Hys­lop’s ex­ports warn­ing

SCOT­TISH ex­ports with the coun­try’s sec­ond big­gest for­eign mar­ket are be­ing put at risk by Brexit, an SNP min­is­ter has warned.

Ex­ter­nal Af­fairs Sec­re­tary Fiona Hys­lop spoke out as she pre­pared to visit the Nether­lands, where 2016 ex­ports were worth £2.1bil­lion.

Only the US, at £4.8bil­lion, took more Scot­tish goods.

Hys­lop, who is hold­ing meet­ings in The Hague to­day, said: “I will be em­pha­sis­ing our po­si­tion that, de­spite the threat of Brexit, Scot­land is open for busi­ness and we want to con­tinue to have a strong and pos­i­tive re­la­tion­ship.”
