Cops ‘still hope to find’ Liam

DE­TEC­TIVES search­ing for a Scot who went miss­ing in Ger­many yes­ter­day said they “still hope to find him alive”.

Liam Col­gan trav­elled to Ham­burg with 18 friends for his brother’s stag party when he be­came sep­a­rated from the group on a night out.

The 29-year-old from In­ver­ness, due to be best man at his brother’s wedding in three weeks’ time, was last seen at about 1.30am on Satur­day as he left a bar.

Ham­burg Po­lice spokesman Ulf Wun­drack said: “We still hope to find him alive. None of (our) ef­forts has been suc­cess­ful so far.”

Of­fi­cers have used snif­fer dogs, spo­ken to wit­nesses and put pho­tos in news­pa­pers, TV and on­line in a bid to track Liam down.

Po­lice Scot­land have said they will help with in­quiries if needed.

On Tues­day, Dundee United cap­tain Willo Flood posted an ap­peal on the club’s Twit­ter feed ask­ing fans to as­sist with the search.

He said: “Liam’s fam­ily have asked every­one to share this to raise aware­ness and bring him home safe and sound. Liam – if you see this, get in touch, buddy.”
