WAR hero double amputee Scott Meenagh admitted he was “buzzing” after making his Paralympics debut.

The 28-year-old former paratrooper lost his legs after stepping on an explosive while serving in Afghanistan seven years ago.

On Saturday, he became the first Briton in 20 years to compete in the cross country skiing at the Paralympics in Pyeongchang.

He finished 18th in the sitting 7.5km skiing biathlon.

Scott, from Cumbernauld, said: “It feels amazing, absolutely incredible.”

Before the games, Scott said his refusal to be a victim has spurred him on. He said: “I don’t want people to feel sorry for me.

“I want to be known for other achievements, not as the guy who lost his legs at work seven years ago.”
