Railway shover is sectioned
A CITY worker pushed under a subway train by a mental health patient survived because it went over him as he curled up between two electrified tracks, a court heard.
Alan Alencar, 29, of Edinburgh, was on day release when he shoved financial expert Alain Lesjongard, 55, on to the tracks in London.
He emerged bloodied with his suit shredded, having suffered fractures to his spine and leg and a cut neck.
Alencar had travelled to see his mother, who was herself in a psychiatric unit, on an overnight bus from Edinburgh the night before.
Paranoid schizophrenic Alencar previously admitted attempted murder.
Sentencing him yesterday at the Old Bailey to be sectioned indefinitely, Judge Sarah Munro QC said: “Miraculously Mr Lesjongard was not electrocuted nor killed.”
