Fair way of growing our economy
TOMORROW, Labour will hold a Holyrood debate exposing how the SNP have mismanaged our economy.
It’s time for a review of the £11billion a year we spend on public procurement.
The SNP Government have handed millions of pounds of public money to private companies who don’t pay proper wages or offer secure work to staff.
Labour would require firms supplying national or local government to meet the high standards we should expect of all businesses: paying their taxes; recognising trade unions; respecting workers’ rights and equal opportunities; protecting the environment; providing training; and paying suppliers on time.
When it comes to how our economy should be managed, there is a clear dividing line between Labour and the SNP.
It’s time to end the years of neglect by governments at both Holyrood and Westminster, who refuse to support our industries, businesses and workers.
I want to see our economy grow and I want businesses to prosper.
Governments can help create the fertile ground for businesses to deliver an economy fit for the future.
That’s why Labour would invest more money in education to equip the next generation of workers with the skills they need.
