It’s understood McGlennan has been in discussions for the last four months with a London-based company over a return to private practice.
He follows former chief executive Stewart Regan and chief operating officer Andrew McKinlay out the door, while non-executive director Gary Hughes is gone after Record Sport revealed he called Rangers fans “the great unwashed”.
An SFA spokesperson said: “He will assist with a transition period and will leave the SFA later in the summer.”
