Gers land £500k bonus as Lamps snaps up Waghorn

MARTYN WAGHORN has joined Derby from Ipswich on a three-year deal for an initial fee understood to be around £5million.

The 28-year-old striker joins Frank Lampard’s side just 12 months after leaving Ibrox for £250,000.

But Rangers are now set to pocket more than double that in sell-on fees.

Lampard said: “This is a big signing for us. Martyn has many great qualities and has been pretty prolific for a few years in front of goal.”

Waghorn scored 16 goals for Ipswich last season after his move from Rangers where he netted 44 in 78 games.

He said: “I was excited by the project. Hopefully we can push Derby forward where we want to be and that’s in the Premier League.”
