Donaldson wrecked by the Juddernaut
SCOTT DONALDSON saw his Northern Ireland Open hopes ended by historychaser Judd Trump.
World No.1 Trump is gunning to become the first player since Stephen Hendry in 1996 to win the same tournament three times in a row.
And the Juddernaut wasted little time in dispensing with last Scot standing Donaldson with a dominant 5-1 quarter-final win in Milton Keynes.
Trump, who faces Chinese prodigy Yan Bingtao or David Grace for a spot in tomorrow’s final, said: “It’ll be special if I win this title It is not something that’s going to add pressure. It’s just something that will be an amazing achievement.”
World champion Ronnie O’Sullivan cruised into the semis with a 5-2 victory over Ding Junhui.
The Rocket, who will meet Ali Carter, said: “I thought I was going to get pumped 5-0 the way he started. I felt useless out there, a bit embarrassed.
“But he missed a few and I dragged him down to my level. I had to be patient because I wasn’t scoring. I’m not as good as I used to be.”
