RESULT! Coyle’s flops crash as Brewers Nayl fightback

-

TOM NAYLOR’S late equaliser secured a first away point of the season for Nigel Clough’s Burton.

And the former Derby defender’s 88th-minute header denied Owen Coyle a first league win as Rovers boss.

The Brewers twice came from behind after goals from Craig Conway and Sam Gallagher had appeared to ease the pressure on the new Blackburn manager.

But his side were pegged back each time, with Jackson Irvine scoring before half-time and Naylor (right) nodding home Matt Palmer’s late corner.

Coyle said: “Having got ourselves ahead twice in the game we could have seen it out and got the three points.

“When you don’t get that two-goal cushion there is that bit of nervousness late in the game and that is what happened today.”

Conway fired the hosts in front in the 25th minute, the winger curling home a superb 25-yard effort off the underside of the bar.

After three straight league defeats it was the boost Coyle’s men needed but they let Burton back in and Irvine headed home John Mousinho’s cross. Rovers were ahead again in the 62nd minute as Southampton loanee Gallagher grabbed his first goal for the club with a thumping header from Conway’s corner. But they couldn’t kill off the game. Burton boss Clough said: “We are very disappointed not to have won. “Conceding the second goal from a corner was poor but we looked a real threat from set-plays and deserved at least a point.”
