JOHN O’SHEA says Gareth Bale was lucky not to be sent off in Friday’s feisty World Cup qualifier in Dublin.

Seamus Coleman had his leg broken by Neil Taylor’s horror challenge just moments after O’Shea survived a hefty clash with Real Madrid superstar Bale.

The Sunderland man, 35, said: “I needed plenty of stitches put in there to patch it up afterwards. I am very lucky when you consider what has happened to Seamus. “On another night, Wales

could have had two red cards. When I looked back on the challenge after the game, I was a little bit annoyed with Bale.

“But it is one of those things. Thankfully I am walking away from it. So no problem.

“You do expect tackles but as I said, so long as they are within reason.

“There is no problem getting a hard tackle but when people are very late, it is a different story.” MY BOY IS NO THUG – WALES REACTION TO TAYLOR CHALLENGE:
