LEOPARDESS IS SPOT ON
STARTS WITH TIP-TOP RACING Fox-Pitts’ Newbury joy
Aiden Coleman was niggling along to keep the 7-1 joint favourite in touch on the home turn in a race run at a smart clip on drying conditions.
But his mount, owned by Marietta Fox-Pitt, kept responding and moved up JASON HEAVEY when leader Lamanver Odyssey unexpectedly ducked left three out and tried to run out.
Forced to switch right having lost a little ground, Richard Johnson tried to gather up Copper Kay – the other joint favourite – to throw down a challenge at the final flight.
But Snow Leopardess simply kept on galloping to score by four lengths.
Winning trainer Charlie Longsdon said: “I’m absolutely delighted for the owners and everyone involved.
“She doesn’t show a lot at home and never has done but I have always thought she had plenty of ability and she got a great ride from Aidan.
“I hope she’s going to go and jump fences next season and I think she could be really good.”
Coleman said: “She has an awful lot of character.
“She could give you a bit of a buck sometimes just for a bit of fun but she’s got a fantastic battling attitude.” for
