CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE TO NERVY MAX
THERE’S a shock for Max Branning when “the Chairman” arrives with a message. Max is plotting the downfall of those who stood by when he was wrongly jailed for the murder of his ex-lover Lucy Beale.
Since getting out of prison he has helped his shady business associates to buy the freehold for the Queen Vic.
Max also orchestrated Charlie Cotton’s return to cause his own brother Jack further heartache.
And he is using Carmel Kazemi to get information from the council planning department.
The revenge storyline was put in place before actor Jake Wood, who plays Max, took a year off.
Max returned over Christmas and told the Beales he understood why they had framed him to keep Bobby out of prison.
But it was all an act and he has been working for a property developer who has plans that would wreck Walford.
An insider said: “Max has managed to keep up the act all these months, so when the Chairman turns up to see him he’s a THIS is the heartbreaking moment when Robert Sugden confesses that he slept with Rebecca White while his husband Aaron Dingle was in prison.
The popular couple, dubbed “Robron” by fans, return to the village this week after their romantic holiday.
But with Robert still feeling guilty about his dirty secret, and Ross Barton piling on the pressure with new blackmail demands, he decides to come clean. The pair are about to spend their first night in their new home together when Robert breaks down and tells Aaron about his one-night stand.
Viewers will have to wait to see how Aaron reacts but, judging by our picture, it’s not looking good for the couple.
An Emmerdale insider told us: “Robert and Aaron have had a lovely time away.
“They return to the village and Robert realises that with Ross knowing his secret and Rebecca little freaked out. The last thing he wants is for anyone to spot them together.
“He has been acting as an insider and manipulating situations – Max was the reason the Carters sold the freehold to the pub.
“He recommended his associates and the deal came off. But in the coming weeks he will be under more pressure from the Chairman, so much so that he risks everything to pay him a visit.
“Everyone will have to wait to see what he wants him to do next.”
See the Chairman’s visit on Thursday. pregnant with his baby, he cannot keep what he did from Aaron any longer. “They are settling down to enjoy their first night in their home when Robert opens up.
“He tells Aaron he cheated on him when he was struggling to cope without him.
“He explains that he wants to be honest because he cares so much about him.
“Aaron is shocked and cannot believe what he is hearing. He loves Robert with all his heart and is devastated by the betrayal.”
Our source said Robert wants to make things work and believes they can get through anything. They added: “He leaves the decision to Aaron. Whether he can get over Robert’s cheating remains to be seen. There’s also the matter of Rebecca not having had the abortion while they were away on holiday.”
