Police call off search
THE mother of missing RAF gunner Corrie McKeague has accused the police of having “given up” on finding her son.
Nicola Urquhart, 48, said police “kept back” information about calling off the search at a landfill where they believe his body is.
On Friday, Det Supt Katie Elliott claimed searches yielded no trace of the 23-year-old serviceman, from Dunfermline, Fife, who went missing from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, following a night out in September. CCTV footage showed him entering a bin loading bay.
Writing on Facebook, Ms Urquhart said: “Police believe Corrie’s in the landfill. The decision to stop searching the landfill means they have given up.”
Ms Urquhart is considering taking out an injunction to stop officers filling in the Milton landfill site.
Ms Elliott, of Suffolk Police, said: “We searched the area but we haven’t found Corrie and this is bitterly disappointing.”
