Factor champ Joe McElderry reckons his old boss Simon Cowell must stop trying to revamp the ITV programme.

This year’s singing contest will see wannabes axed on both the Saturday and Sunday live shows.

But 2009 winner Joe told me: “That sounds brutal. It will certainly make it interesting.

“The problem is they try to change it too much.

“They have tried to fix it too many times. People just want the old X Factor they used to know and love.”

Joe is back with his fifth album, Saturday Night at the Movies, after a five-year pop break.

He added: “To be honest when we started talking of a new album I did wonder if anyone would care.

“I’ve been busy touring and doing musical theatre but I took a big break from releasing music. I had no idea if people would be bothered.”

Joe’s new album is currently No.10 in the charts. .g flashzlin a and daz g– ied leti in a, by ve. the banpan exp m son ha om ing hel perldis h witacc am thethi chi c bac k s fl es go wa ge tak in areTh is hu o his ng 2 a Tri for agi the s 18 ling ing ne wn eng go t new IN K- Feeinc lud ali knosid us e, . ? the ’s BL eneics Ag wit r, Alk st pp ain h ton of . CRAIG ★

David was one of last year’s huge comeback stories.

Following My Intuition became his first No.1 album since 2000’s debut Born To Do It.

Fans had waited six years for the chart-topper but the good news is his follow-up is all done and ready for release.

Craig told me: “I have pretty much finished the new album, which will drop very soon. I’m just choosing singles at the moment. A new track should be out any time now.

“This album has a more R&B, Seven Days-type vibe to it than Following My Intuition.

“It’s a bit more like my original Born To Do It album. I just can’t wait to get new music out.”

Craig David’s TS5 Pool Party plays every Thursday at Ibiza Rocks Hotel this summer.
