Danny is awight for two years
EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer has signed a twoyear contract with the soap with the promise of some “pwoper nawty” storylines.
Danny, 40, who has played loveable Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter since 2013, signed the deal last week.
During a meeting with the soap’s top boss John Yorke, an insider said Danny was very excited about what he has planned.
And viewers can expect him to be right in the thick of the action in the coming months as the soap gears up for Christmas.
Our source said: “The last year has been a bit up and down for Danny and his character Mick.
“His on-screen wife Kellie Bright was off on maternity leave for a lot of it, so there was only so much they could do with him.
“But he’s had a meeting with John and is very excited about everything he’s got planned for Mick.
“It’s a slightly different path for his character – there’s going to be bother.
“It’s all top secret but fans won’t be disappointed, especially as Danny has signed for two years.”
Bosses recently hinted at the new direction for Mick after announcing they had signed movie star Patrick Bergin as hard-man Phil Mitchell’s old prison mate Aidan Maguire.
Creative director John said: “It’s a huge honour to have Patrick on board, where he’ll be working hand-in-hand with Phil Mitchell and Mick Carter to carry a truly explosive storyline for Christmas and New Year.”
Our source added: “Danny is a huge asset to the show and the fans love Mick, which John recognises.”
An EastEnders spokesman refused to comment on Danny’s contract.
