ALE ENDING?

CORRIE favourite Shayne Ward plays a fairytale prince in our exclusive photos…

The dreamy shots of him with co-star Catherine Tyldesley will thrill fans longing for a happy ending to their romance.

But Shayne has revealed even his mum calls him a “dirty dog” over his saucy screen antics.

His character Aidan Connor has been romping with Weatherfield’s hottest babes in recent months.

This week viewers will see the climax of Aidan’s love triangle sage involving Eva, played by Cath who turns 34 today, and Maria, played by Samia Longchambon, 35.

The storyline will be at the heart of the drama as the soap goes from five shows to six this week.

In Wednesday night’s double episode Aidan tells Eva about his romps with hairdresser Maria.

He is unaware Eva found out months ago then lied about being pregnant and has since been plotting her revenge. Eva and Aidan walk down the aisle but Maria throws everything into doubt by gatecrashing the ceremony. Speaking about his Corrie role, Shayne, 32, said: “I love that a lot of people don’t see me as

Shayne but as Aidan Connor. It’s certainly helped my confidence a lot in terms of my acting ability.

“It’s great because it means people believe it. Even my mum calls me a dirty dog. I was over hers the other day. My auntie Susan and auntie Theresa were like ‘Jeez, you dirty, dirty dog! That poor woman!’

“I was like, ‘Stop there, you do know it’s not real?’”

Shayne welcomed a baby girl called Willow, with his ex-Hollyoaks girlfriend Sophie Austin, 33, in December.

The couple watch Corrie together and despite his character’s antics, brunette Sophie, who played serial killer Lindsey Butterfield in the Channel 4 soap, laughs about it.

He added: “I’ve seen Sophie snog people in Hollyoaks. I know that was before we got together, so it’s different, but at end of the day she knows that for the art you’ve got to make it believable.”

And he revealed his on-screen kisses are as raunchy as off-screen.

He said: “I’m sure we’ve all seen on-screen kisses where they don’t do it properly and it frustrates me. Put a bit of tongue in!

“We watch it together. I love the show, I’ve always watched it, but I watch it a hell of a lot more now for continuity.

“But I’ll know when something’s coming up and will be like, ‘Do you want a brew?’. There was one episode that saw me kiss both Cath and Samia. Luckily she laughed about it.”

Shayne filmed his first Corrie scenes with Alison King who is returning to the show as Carla Connor later this year.

And in a dramatic twist, Aidan’s dad Johnny discovered that he was Carla’s biological dad – making her Aidan’s half-sister.

Shayne said: “It’s all very exciting. No-one knows what’s going to happen as it’s all top secret. But for me she’s one of the most captivating actresses I’ve ever watched on screen.

“She was in my first scene and just made me feel so relaxed. That’s what I’ve loved over the last two years I’ve been here – everyone makes you so relaxed. I learn every day. Ali helped me a hell of a lot.”

Coronation Street moves to six episodes weekly from tomorrow, with three sets of doubles on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, airing at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
