Mel, the £2m girl

Daily Star Sunday - - FRONT PAGE -

MEL B will bank a cool £2million for returning to America’s Got Talent next year.

Show boss Simon Cowell wants to keep the former Spice Girl even though she has faced allegations of cocaine and alcohol abuse.

The claims, which she denies, emerged in divorce papers after her split from husband Stephen Belafonte. But Cowell feels the chemistry of the panel is a key part of the primetime NBC series’ success.

He said Mel, 42, could be “a pain” but had a “good heart”.

Financially, a return to the series would be ideal for Mel who faces legal fees estimated at more than £250,000.

In August she was ordered by a judge to pay more than £100,000 of Belafonte’s legal fees, and £11,000 in monthly maintenance.
