A MUM has revealed how she found out she was pregnant just before giving birth – bringing an Emmerdale storyline to life.

Debbie Knight gave up hope of conceiving naturally after being told she had polycystic ovaries.

The 34-year-old then underwent a gastric bypass operation after medics said she could only have IVF if she lost weight – not realising she was already pregnant.

It was months after the operation that she felt sick and took a pregnancy test. To her amazement she found she was pregnant, and gave birth to Ronnie 72 hours later.

Debbie, a childminder who lives with husband Simon, said: “It was a huge surprise but a dream come true.

“I’d always wanted to be a mum but thought it would never happen. It was actually my weight that was stopping me from conceiving.

“At my heaviest I was 30 stone. But before the surgery, I dropped to 25 stone and in the following months I reached 16 stone.

“I ate very little but one of the things I loved was Quavers crisps.

“Now I realise that was my pregnancy craving. I did a test and it said I was over 12 weeks pregnant so I just assumed I’d conceived after my operation.

“But then I couldn’t stop peeing. I went to Accident and Emergency, frantic with worry
