Elton up for Lion share

-

SIR Elton John will bank at least £10million thanks to the remake of classic cartoon The Lion King.

Sir Elton, 70, is said to have agreed a deal with Disney Studios to rework his hit tunes from the 1994 film.

Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight will be introduced to a new audience in the production, which will feature Beyoncé.

Insiders say the licensing deal is worth at least

£3m but will rise in commissions from DVD sales and streaming.

Earnings from new album sales, royalties on radio and streaming plays worldwide will also boost his bank balance.

And on top of that ticket sales from The Lion King stage productions worldwide will likely increase dramatically after the film’s

2019 release.

An LA source said: “Elton is working with Disney on this new Lion King project.

“They have reached an agreement to present some reworked versions of the classic hits and perhaps some new work.

“The deal is a huge one and will earn Sir Elton millions.”

The star bagged an Oscar for composing Can You Feel the Love Tonight on the original film. Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata! were also nominated to get Academy Awards.
