Survivor in horror flat visit
A WOMAN who survived Grenfell has returned to her charred flat.
Lorraine Beadle lived on the fourth floor for more than 40 years and wanted to see it for a final time.
Police escorted her on the harrowing visit months after the blaze. The gran said: “It looked like something out of World War Two.
“I looked into the kitchen and I said to the police, ‘I’ve had enough, I’ve got to get out’.
“I wanted to go in to say goodbye but now I wish I hadn’t.
“I had a lot of memories there.” The NHS estimates that 11,000 people have been mentally scarred by the tragedy.
Within months of the fire 1,300 people had been treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Karim Mussilhy, who lost his uncle in the blaze, told how it affected him.
He said: “I had a big breakdown, a big nervous breakdown. I was just overwhelmed.”
