Stones sure sad Sane will bounce back from axe

Daily Star Sunday - - FRONT PAGE -

JOHN STONES claims Leroy Sane will have been “hurt massively” by Germany boss Joachim Low’s shock decision to axe the Manchester City winger from the World Cup.

Sane, 22 (right) was outstanding in City’s title-winning season but his attitude has been questioned by the German camp.

However, England defender Stones, 24, said: “Leroy is a world-class player, even though he is so young. I am so, so gutted for him. I know how much this meant to him and it will have hurt him massively.

“And it’s a massive blow for Germany, too, in my opinion, to be without a player of his ability.

“Now he has got a lot of time to think about it before and during the tournament and that wouldn’t be good for me if I was in his shoes.

He will be fine but right now this will hurt.”
