ITV RETURN IS RIGHT UP HER STREET

- ■ EXCLUSIVE by JAMES INGHAM

FORMER Corrie favourite Wendi Peters has hinted she might come back to the soap.

Her character Cilla Battersby-Brown, pictured below with Bruce Jones as Les Battersby, was last seen on the Weatherfield cobbles in 2014.

The actress, inset, who played Fiz and Chesney’s mum said: “Cilla was such a popular character, which is crazy because she was so in your face.

“People just loved to hate her.

“I love the variety of theatre but never say never to returning.

“I went back in 2014 for a short time and would consider it again if the storyline was right.”

Wendi, 50, has also backed her former co-star and CBB star Ryan Thomas, who was wrongly accused of assault by Roxanne Pallet.

Blasting the show, she said: “I was shocked and horrified that people think that’s entertainment. “It worries me that people enjoy watching other people’s misfortunes. “Ryan is such a lovely guy and I felt incredibly sorry for him. “I think they should have played the video into the house earlier so everyone was aware of what was happening.” Wendi has just started on a UK tour of the popular musical Salad Days.

She added: “The musical is joyful silliness. I don’t think anyone could come to watch it and not leave with a smile on their face.” Tickets for Salad Days are available now.
