Tips from Terry help Rochelle

Daily Star Sunday - - FRONT PAGE -

ROCHELLE Humes says she keeps her emotions in check during Children In Need thanks to the late Sir Terry Wogan.

She was advised by him to watch the show’s heartbreaking clips in advance.

Presenter Rochelle, 29, said: “I get so emotional, but Terry told me to watch those segments five times before the live show. That way I can keep my emotions in check.

“I never want it to be about me crying – the films are about the families that are so strong and brave.”

Rochelle is fronting this year’s show alongside Tess Daly and Graham Norton. She added: “It’s a privilege. If Children In Need ask you to do something, I don’t know anyone who’d say no.

“I remember doing cake sales at school for Children In Need!”

Last year the charity telethon raised £60.7million – the most ever.

Rochelle said: “We’d all sat down beforehand and said, ‘If we don’t break the record, it doesn’t matter. We know money is tight for people’.

“When we hit that number we were floored. It’s a testament to all the viewers who find a way to donate, and to Children In Need, who show how the money can change lives.”

The show is on Friday, 7.30pm, on BBC One.
