Tur­gott on tar­get for the Stones to stun Silk­men on a day of up­sets

NA­TIONAL LEAGUE side Maid­stone knocked League Two strug­glers Mac­cles­field out of the FA Cup first round with a

2-1 vic­tory.

Ben Stephens had put the Silk­men in front in the

15th minute but the hosts hit back early in the sec­ond half through Jack Pow­ell’s free-kick.

Blair Tur­gott won the tie for the Stones from the penalty spot with 20 min­utes left.

Sixth-tier South­port beat Bore­ham Wood 2-0 with goals in each half from Dean Win­nard and Ja­son Gilchrist.

Kabongo Tshi­manga scored a hat-trick as Con­fer­ence South club Ox­ford City bat­tled to a 3-3 draw against Tran­mere.

Rovers, fourth in League Two, took the lead in the

34th minute through Con­nor Jen­nings. Tshi­manga equalised five min­utes later and then added a sec­ond in the

66th minute be­fore Jen­nings made it

2-2 with a header from a cor­ner.

City looked to have snatched a memorable vic­tory when Tshi­manga tapped in with eight min­utes left but James Nor­wood had the fi­nal say late on to make it 3-3.

Else­where, League One lead­ers Portsmouth avoided a po­ten­tial ba­nana skin as they won

4-0 at Maiden­head. South­ern League Met­ro­pol­i­tan Po­lice saw their FA Cup hopes end with a 2-0 home de­feat by New­port County, fin­ish­ing the game with 10 men.

Alder­shot will be in the hat for the sec­ond round af­ter a 1-1 draw at home against League One bot­tom club Brad­ford, who equalised in the 70th minute through mid­fielder Nathaniel Knight- Per­ci­val. Moses Ade­mola’s sec­ond-half goal earned Bil­ler­icay a 1-1 draw at Chester­field, while Ebb­s­fleet also se­cured a re­play af­ter a home goal­less draw against Chel­tenham.

A stop­page-time ef­fort from Bruno An­drade gave Lin­coln a 3-2 vic­tory over Northamp­ton, who had Ju­nior Mo­rias sent off be­fore the fi­nal whis­tle. Gateshead went out fol­low­ing a 2-1 de­feat at Rochdale.

By­ron Moore scored twice as Bury de­feated non-league Dover 5-0.

Barns­ley beat Notts County 4-0 at Oak­well, Ac­cring­ton knocked out Colch­ester 1-0, with Carlisle win­ning by the same score­line at Crewe.

Black­pool held on to beat Ex­eter 3-2,


MK Dons

3-1, Lu­ton Town had a

2-0 home win against Wy­combe.

Ply­mouth beat Steve­nage 1-0 af­ter Ruben Lameiras struck in stop­page time.

In-form Peter­bor­ough came from be­hind to tri­umph 3-1 against Brom­ley, who played the sec­ond half with 10 men.

Scun­thorpe went through af­ter over­com­ing Bur­ton 2-1, while it fin­ished 1-1 be­tween Southend and Craw­ley.

Wok­ing won 1-0 at Torquay, but York lost 2-1 at Swin­don. Wal­sall held off a Coven­try come­back to win 3-2, while Stock­port came from be­hind to run out 3-1 win­ners away to Yeovil.

The ties be­tween Gillingham and Hartle­pool, More­cambe and Halifax, Ox­ford and For­est Green and Sut­ton against Slough all fin­ished goal­less.
