Savile victims’ £1.8m
JIMMY Savile’s victims are to get more than £1.8million from his £3.3m estate.
Legal costs of the NatWest Bank in administering the estate are already over £1.4m.
And other claims are outstanding.
But Mr Justice Warren told the High Court he had “no hesitation” in approving the payout.
He said the question for him was whether to approve the payouts while there were a number of out-of-time and rejected claims.
But in his judgment he said: “A line has to be drawn somewhere.”
He said the bank could not be expected to indefinitely retain assets against the possibility of proceedings being commenced.
When Savile died aged 84 in October 2011 his estate was worth £4.3m.
£1m of that total was immediately swallowed up in legal costs. BOBBY the kitten survived but was in shock after being stuck for several minutes in a washing machine when it was switched on by owner Lisa Keefe in Nottingham.
