He was speaking about making music as a dad but dropped a bombshell – prompting claims that he has secretly wed the former Girls Aloud singer.
Liam said: “To be honest with you I don’t know yet what it is like to write while being a father – I have not passed through this experience.
“I have something that I’m preparing with Timbaland and I was writing with Pharrell when his wife was pregnant, along with my wife for that matter.” This is not the first time Liam has sent the “havethey, haven’t-they” rumour mill into overdrive.
He appeared to confirm that he had married the mother of his son, Bear, on a US radio station in May. He spilled: “I left my wife and child at home and I was straight out.”
Confused fan Shannon Cohen tweeted: “Why does Liam keep calling Cheryl his wife?”
Another Directioner said: “They’re such a cute couple, I’d love them to make it official.”
However, a spokesperson for Liam insisted later: “No they are not married.”
