THE PRIME Min­is­ter put on her “war paint” for a show of sol­i­dar­ity with her Ja­panese coun­ter­part Shinzo Abe yes­ter­day.

She wore a strik­ing red lip­stick which be­havioural ex­pert Judi James last night said sig­nalled a de­fi­ant front to the world. The psy­chol­o­gist said: “Red lip­stick is em­phatic and de­fi­ant. Here she is wear­ing it like ar­mour, like war paint.

“Putting on red lip­stick like this shows that she is ramp­ing up her mes­sage.”

Mrs May is vis­it­ing Ja­pan in a bid to drum up trade af­ter Brexit. But her trip came af­ter North Korea fired a mis­sile over Ja­pan.

Mrs May, who later joined a Ja­panese tea cer­e­mony, also pledged to step up pres­sure on the regime.
