Roman in a £1.5m leccy car shocker!
HIS LUXURY MOTOR GIFTS WON’T WORK
ROMAN Abramovich has spent over £1.5million on electric cars for pals in Russia where there are no charging points.
The Chelsea owner bought 20 luxury Tesla cars in his homeland for “people close to him and business partners”.
But the country has no charging points or service centres for electric cars.
A source close to the oligarch said: “Abramovich is a big fan of this car, as he is of everything environment friendly, including electric transportation.
“He was the first to bring it here and started promoting it so that several people would have them at once.”
The billionaire imported inventor Elon Musk’s motors despite them not being officially on sale in the country. Among those said to have received a car is an art museum director, Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia president, and former Moscow Culture Minister Sergei Kapkov. According to Tesla’s website, there are no charging stations in Russia, but five charging points are “coming soon”. Abramovich’s spokesman declined to comment on the story last night. But a source said while there are no official charging stations, Tesla will be launching them there in the autumn. He said that Abramovich had bought 10 Sedan models and not 20 supercars.
