A VETERAN swimmer was brought back from the dead at a swimming pool – as flags were lowered to half-mast around him.

Peter Marks, 75, had finished his dip when he collapsed and stopped breathing. Flags at the seawater lido were lowered in respect.

He was clinically dead for 55 minutes. But after being given CPR by pal Steve Pinfield and paramedics he was revived and flown to hospital, where he fully recovered.

Peter, of Penzance, has now been reunited with his rescuers at the town’s Jubilee Pool. He said: “There is no doubt they all did an amazing job.”
