BOB'S A SAFE BET

IT may seem strange to talk about someone who loved a bet the same day as reflecting on the perils of gambling.

But the late Bob Cass was a rarity, a punter who maintained his good spirits even when on a losing spree.

A highly-respected football journalist, his autobiography ‘By The Way’ has just been published.

He did have his good days of course, like when he backed an unknown Italian called Baldovino Dassu to win a golf tournament at 100-1.
