HEAD IT HARDER
Terry’s tip to his footie girl
JOHN Terry is telling his 11-year-old daughter to head balls harder despite fears over dementia.
The former England captain, 36, is advising Summer to “attack” the ball rather than shy away from it.
A number of former players are said to be suffering from dementia brought about by years of heading the ball.
But Chelsea legend Terry appeared to dismiss the fears.
He said: “I have done quite the opposite with my girl.
“I have told her to attack the ball rather than let it hit you. With the girls, when the ball ® comes in from a corner, they shy away from it. “I say attack it and it will protect you from any damage.” The Aston Villa star appeared on last night’s BBC documentary called Alan Shearer: Dementia, Football And Me. It starred ex-Newcastle ace Alan Shearer, 47, who said: “There are 860,000 people suffering dementia in this country, and a lot of those are footballers.” Three of England’s 1966 World Cup heroes, Ray Wilson, Nobby Stiles and Martin Peters, are dementia sufferers.
