SCRAPPY DAYS!

Gareth’s battlers hold Samba kings

- By DAVID WOODS

GARETH SOUTHGATE’S newlook England side had to show all their fighting qualities at Wembley last night.

They spent virtually the whole of the 90 minutes on the back-foot against an impressive Brazil side.

But England showed determination and organisation to hang on for their second goalless draw in the space of five days.

Neymar was not surprisingly the pick of the bunch for the Samba stars, opening up the home defence after 20 minutes with a stunning curled pass, but Gabriel Jesus’ first touch let him down and he was forced wide by Joe Hart.

The PSG man did the same at the start of the second half to set up Dani Alves but Hart blocked his effort.

Alves then squared up to Jake Livermore after the West Brom midfielder caught him late.
