BRITS would rather get a good night’s sleep than sex.

A long, deep nap also makes people happier than chocolate and alcohol.

And the appeal of a solid night’s rest and a lie-in beat waking up earlier for some fun in the sack.

In a survey, three out of four people said they loved sleeping, compared with just 44% who enjoyed chocolate or sex.

And alcohol attracted a mere 32% of those polled.

With Blue Monday approaching, often seen as the most depressing day of the year, the survey from Virgin Money also showed that the main cause of stress was money worries.

Just over half said being on top of their money made them content, while 28% said this is the biggest single worry that makes them feel stressed.

It came ahead of work (13%), long queues and family (both 7%).

Tim Arthur, of Virgin Money said: “After the excitement of the festive season, the long nights and cold days of January can make people feel a bit less positive.

“The third Monday of January – Blue Monday – is often seen as the most depressing day of the year.

“The secret to reducing stress and being happier could be as simple as getting a good night’s sleep and getting on top of your finances.”
