HE might be No1 but Ed Sheeran feared his hit-making prowess was over until hooking up with Liam Payne.
Inspiration failed the Perfect charttopper so he locked himself away and ended up hitting the jackpot.
Liam recalled: “He was like, ‘Dude I don’t know if I can write songs any more – can I come in and write a song?’
“He was getting like songwriting fomo (anxiety).
“That’s when he did Strip That Down, Your Song and wrote all these amazing songs, because he thought he couldn’t.
“Oh my God, there were so many. I wonder if he mic drops when he walks out of the studio?”
Liam ended up getting Strip That Down, but he was really after a song Ed gave to Rita Ora.
“I really wanted Your Song and (she) robbed that,” he Chris Rock explained. “I was in the studio and I actually heard it just a few days before and then next time I came into the studio I was like, ‘Have you still got that song?’ “He said, ‘Yeah Rita’s doing it’ – I was like, ‘Damn it, I want that song’.” Ed is in line for another smash after pal Taylor Swift unveiled a new video for their collaborative hit End Game this week too. As for Liam he wishes he had been a different member of One Direction. He told Radio 1: “I was the talky guy. “I feel like it was nice to be Zayn (Malik) sometimes.
