Mag made right NME of Editors!

INDIE music bible NME printed its final magazine after 66 years last week – and Editors admit they won’t miss it one bit.

As a teenager lead singer Tom Smith religiousl­y read the New Musical Express, but hated the way it changed over time.

Tom, whose band released superb new album Violence this week, told me: “The real NME died years ago.

“The way they write about music now is throwaway. They’ve been rude about me personally, and a lot of other musicians.

“Through my teenage years, NME gave me a window into another world, but that NME is long gone.”

He added: “I feel conflicted for saying it, but I don’t care that the NME has now ended.” Tom, 36,
