EN­ERGY gi­ant SSE yes­ter­day be­came the last of the Big Six to raise prices, with nearly 2.4mil­lion cus­tomers fac­ing a £76 a year rise.

The group is in­creas­ing elec­tric­ity and gas bills by an av­er­age of 6.7% from July 11.

Bosses blame whole­sale price in­creases and Govern­ment pol­icy on green en­ergy.

Dual fuel cus­tomers will be clob­bered with an av­er­age in­crease of £1.50 a week. M&S En­ergy cus­tomers, who are sup­plied by SSE, will also be hit.
