Get tough on touts
IT COMES to something when pop star Ed Sheeran is sorting out the tout scandal instead of the Government.
The ginger singer has taken matters into his own hands by cancelling thousands of tickets for his sell-out gigs bought up by scalpers and rip-off resale sites.
He then refunds fans and offers them face value entry.
What a palaver.
Minsters should have declared war on the blaggers a long time ago.
It’s not as if they’re hard to catch. The shysters stand outside concerts and sports venues flogging their inflated tickets, often in front of police.
And online companies openly make vast profits from the same scam, often targeting kids and teens.
Digital Minister Margot James said yesterday if fans must use a resale site, “don’t choose Viagogo, they are the worst”.
The firm has finally been referred to National Trading Standards over sneaky extra fees.
It’s time to put these con artists out of business.
