Brave Ralph in epic journey
COURAGEOUS cancer sufferer Ralph Ellis is aiming to cycle from London to Amsterdam despite being in the middle of chemotherapy.
The Daily Star sports reporter was diagnosed last year with an aggressive strain of prostate cancer.
He is being joined by family and friends on Prostate Cancer UK’s Football To Amsterdam 145-mile challenge, which begins tomorrow.
A total of 400 riders, including former England stars Alan Smith and Viv Anderson, are raising funds to help the fight against a disease which kills one man every 45 minutes in the UK.
Ralph, 61, was the Daily Star’s chief sports columnist in the 1990s and still contributes as a freelance writer.
He said: “I was advised to try to keep fit to help deal with the side-effects of chemotherapy, and my son suggested training for this ride.”
