THE sis­ter of the Duchess of Sus­sex has called for EDL founder Tommy Robin­son to be re­leased from jail.

Sa­man­tha Markle urged her thou­sands of Twit­ter fol­low­ers to sign a pe­ti­tion.

Robin­son, 35, was jailed for 13 months for con­tempt of court af­ter live stream­ing a rant about a sen­si­tive trial.

But Meg’s sis­ter Sa­man­tha branded the court’s de­ci­sion “ridicu­lous” and urged ®

Prime Min­is­ter Theresa May to back her. Sa­man­tha said: “I do not feel that Tommy Robin­son should have been jailed.

“Vi­o­lent protesters that en­dan­ger oth­ers should be jailed.

“I don’t agree with ev­ery­thing he has to say, but I feel that he should be en­ti­tled to free­dom of speech.”

But so­cial me­dia users were quick to blast both Sa­man­tha’s out­burst and Robin­son’s claim that he was a po­lit­i­cal pris­oner.

Faisal Khan wrote: “Sa­man­tha Tommy Robin­son was ar­rested for break­ing the law on re­port­ing re­stric­tions on a live Trial (put in place to pre­vent peo­ple from in­flu­enc­ing the ver­dict).”

Harinder­jet Jar­rett, 51, a Bri­tish-In­dian na­tional of Hayes, west Lon­don, ap­peared at Isle­worth Crown Court via a video link from prison. A CHEAPER and sim­pler new funeral is be­ing launched.

Co-op Funer­al­care said its “di­rect to cre­ma­tion” ser­vice is “with­out cer­e­mony”.

The com­pany said it costs less than half a tra­di­tional funeral.
