Poppi father’s laptop ‘clean’

Daily Star - - NEWS -

THE dad who escaped prosecution over the death of Poppi Worthington was yesterday told his laptop did not reveal any crime.

Police said the device – which the 13-month-old’s father, Paul Worthington, admitted using to watch adult pornography on the night she died – contained no evidence of criminality.

Officers did not seize the computer at the time – one of a catalogue of blunders in their probe into Poppi’s 2012 death. Yesterday, a Cumbria Police spokesman said the laptop “does not contain any evidence of criminal activity”.

A coroner ruled in January that Poppi was abused before she died, while a High Court judge ruled Worthington, 50, of Barrow-in-Furness, had sexually assaulted her shortly before her death.

But prosecutors ruled he would not face legal action because of the police blunders. Worthington has denied abusing Poppi and is now living in hiding.
