JOHN TERRY going to Aston Villa as De No.2 has turned a good appointment in with loads of potential pitfalls.

I like Dean Smith (left). He’s done a great job at B Walsall, plays good football and is a Villa fan. He ti boxes for them.

But did he really want Terry going there with hi I can’t imagine in my wildest dreams that he tol would only take the job if Terry was part of the p He’s taking his own assistant with him as well, s already knows and trusts.

You have to wonder where that leaves Terry. Will consulted closely? Will they get on?

The dressing room will be a problem, too. Those will respect Terry more than they will Smith. Terr everything there is to win and they already know hi last season when he was captain.

It’s going to be an issue for him, too, because he was one season. They were his mates. Now he’s got to get serious w That’s not an easy transition.

It either goes really well or it lasts six month badly wrong.

I always thought Smith was the right candidate. The one problem for him is that he’s always been fully in charge of everything at his other clubs.

At Brentford and Walsall he could dictate everything. But he won’t be able to do that at Villa because the board will be busy.

There could be more interference than he’s used to, and obviously there will be more pressure. It will take some adjustment.
