ONE in three own­ers of smart meters has had prob­lems with their de­vice.

They in­clude dis­plays not work­ing, meters “go­ing dumb” af­ter switch­ing sup­pli­ers or some ceas­ing to func­tion en­tirely.

But a poll for uSwitch found that 29% of home­own­ers be­lieve that own­ing a smart me­ter has helped them to re­duce their en­ergy bills, up from 16% last year.
