Shades of grey

Decanter - - LETTERS -

YouR JulY EDITIoN featured some of the most current, and polarising, debates in the wine world. Chris Batchelder dismissed biodynamic wines as ‘superstitious claptrap’ (‘letters’); Andrew Jefford argued persuasively for the scientific proof of terroir; Jane Anson made a plea for innovative Bordeaux producers to reclaim their authenticity, and Rob MacCulloch celebrated the quality wines made entirely from purchased grapes. And all this in the week I read that wine has now been produced from scratch, in the lab, without the growing of any grapes at all.
